NewBrook Families,
Well, the Super Bowl was not that "super" this year...but I hope that you all had some time to enjoy the fresh snow.
Our Winter Break is February 23-March 3. If you are looking for fun, local, cheap, family activities, you may want to consider the Brattleboro Winter Carnival. They schedule family events throughout the week in support of families who are hoping to spend time together. If you are interested, you can find more information here.
One facet of our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), is regular academic assessment. We completed our Winter Benchmark assessments in both ELA and mathematics in January, and then met as grade level teams to plan. You may hear about changes to our small groupings that result from the round of data meetings last week. Thanks to our Academic Support Team, our Special Education Staff and our classroom teachers for this important and reflective step. For additional information about our MTSS System, please follow this link.
Please be sure to send your children to school with their cold weather gear every day. It has been VERY COLD on our playground, and there is still a lot of snow, slush and ice to make us very wet and cold! Thank you!
It is my intention to communicate the information that NewBrook families need to know in this newsletter. Please offer me your suggestions about our methods of family communication. And do not hesitate to call or email me to set up an appointment if you have any questions or concerns. Please let us know when difficulties arise. We would love to help and we all have time for you!
Scotty Tabachnick, School Principal
We are a community of kind, responsible learners.

Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Update: In January, we focused upon earning pennies with our “sharing,” and we have earned a school-wide celebration: Winter Wonderland Recess with Hot Cocoa on Friday, February 13. Thanks to our generous and hardworking PTO for collaborating with staff to create this incentive event! When we meet the goal, earning 24 "falcon bucks,” our generous PTO will then donate real money to the Windham County Humane Society. Nice!

Recess-Ready Reminder - Here at NewBrook, we spend time outside almost every day! Please send your children to school with clothing and outerwear that is appropriate for the weather. This time of year, the temperature varies widely throughout the day, so please keep that in mind! Thank you! If your child comes home with clothing that is not yours, please launder it and send it back to school so we have clothing and outerwear to lend. Please try to label your child’s clothing…our lost and found is getting bigger and bigger!
